Everton's transfer deadline day has taken a dramatic turn following news of a bid being made for Manchester United's Joshua Zirkzee.
The Toffees had planned to bring in Folarin Balogun from Monaco for a £40million fee.
However, a couple of hours before Tuesday's 11pm deadline, it emerged that Balogun had failed his Everton medical.
Everton have since made an approach for Zirkzee as they desperately bring in a partner or replacement for Thierno Barry.
And a new update has now been shared on what the most likely outcome is.

Where Everton's striker search stands after Joshua Zirkzee update
With Beto and Iliman Ndiaye departing on deadline day, Everton quite simply need to bring in another attacker on top of Jack Grealish.
Grealish's own move to Hill Dickinson Stadium is still in the balance, with no confirmation of the loan deal yet arriving.
But Everton do at least appear to have made a breakthrough to sign Zirkzee.
As per talkSPORT pair Ben Jacobs and Alex Crook on Tuesday evening, speaking via the radio station, United are set to accept Everton's loan offer for Zirkzee.
Zirkzee was once described by Thiago Motta as being like the Ronaldinho we saw at Barcelona.
While it is true his career has never truly taken off to that extent, he is still a player who can get fans excited.
What's Zirkzee's stance on Everton transfer?
A follow-up report from The Athletic's David Ornstein claimed Zirkzee is himself open to the move.
It seems that all three parties are ready to make this happen, but it is now a serious race against time to do so.
Deal sheets can be submitted to the Premier League to buy some additional time.
Everton fans will just have their fingers crossed that Zirkzee and Grealish are both confirmed, with that at least softening some of the blow of a wild day.
