Marcus Rashford has emerged as a surprise transfer target for Everton.

The Toffees ended the summer transfer window in shocking style, and are already looking ahead to rectify that.

Angus Kinnear and the Friedkins have come under heavy scrutiny for leaving David Moyes painfully short for the Premier League.

So, Rashford's name emerging is no surprise with his Manchester United future now in doubt at Old Trafford.

The England international could join Jack Grealish in looking to make a name for himself away from the heavy shackles of certain clubs.

But, where do the Friedkins stand in this possible deal?

The one thing this transfer will be decided on, is the finances.

For a start, Rashford is very-well publicly known to be on a whopping £325,000-a-week wage packet at Old Trafford.

But, according to Football Transfers, Everton are trying to pull off a deal that could happen as soon as January.

It's said that Rashford is almost guaranteed to leave next summer, but it could happen sooner.

A £26million valuation is said to be in place, while Everton have already held talks over a possible move.

That is as far as this one has gone so far, with it unknown whether it would be a loan or a permanent move.

James Tarkowski reveals how Everton players feel about The Friedkin Group takeover plans

Where does Everton takeover stand?

After initially looking for minor investment at Hill Dickinson Stadium, the Friedkin Group have now confirmed their intentions to sell up.

Less than two years after their own takeover, the Americans are looking to move on, possibly focusing more on AS Roma.

But, they did confirm that Everton will get their attention now, in January and until the best buyer is found, not just walking away as soon as possible.

After agreeing a £40million move for Folarin Balogun on deadline day this summer before collapsing, the money is clearly available for Everton to spend.

Rashford's fee wouldn't be anywhere near that to Man United, but his wages are gigantic.

Could the chance of a fresh start, plus the chance to likely play as a striker, influence him to lower those and make the move?

Everton and the Friedkins are clearly making their move early to see if that is the case ahead of January.

And what a farewell gift that could be from the Americans.
