Everton have had a slow start to the transfer window, with David Moyes still waiting for his first summer signing.

The Toffees have been linked with quite a few players in recent weeks, but The Friedkin Group are yet to invest in the squad since the end of last season.

It's clear that the Blues need to add more quality to their ranks after failing to win any of their last seven Premier League matches this season, eventually missing out on European football.

Just like the winter transfer window, there seems to be no urgency from TFG to right their wrongs at Hill Dickinson Stadium and get deals done quickly.

In January, fans in L3 were crying out for a few signings to push the Merseyside outfit further up the league table, but the American owners had no plans to spend any money.

Tyrique George was the only winter addition under Moyes in the 2025-26 campaign and it was forced after Jack Grealish suffered a serious injury.

Everton show fragility in transfer market

Moyes was keen to sign Harry Wilson as a free agent once his contract at Fulham expired, but Leeds United have reportedly won the race for him.

The Whites were only recently promoted to the Premier League and were embroiled in a relegation battle this season, and there should be no reason why the Elland Road hierarchy can present a better case to the Wales international than the Toffees.

While the Blues are hoping to sign Grealish permanently from Manchester City, there's no guarantee TFG will want to pay a significant sum if demanded.

Hayden Hackney is a prime target at Hill Dickinson Stadium, but the Merseyside outfit arguably risk losing out on him by dragging on the negotiations.

David Moyes can take drastic step after Friedkin Group betrayal

Last summer, many Everton fans felt TFG hadn't done enough to hand Moyes a squad capable of challenging for anything major in the 2025-26 campaign.

The Toffees pulled off an eye-catching deal for Grealish and invested heavily in the likes of Tyler Dibling, but there was a clear lack of depth in multiple areas of the pitch, especially in defence and the number nine position.

In January, the Scottish manager was let down by the Friedkins, which certainly played a part in the season's disappointing end, and if the Americans fail to back him this summer, he may walk away.
