Duncan Ferguson already has his eyes on talents at Everton after joining Glentoran.

The Scot has now been appointed by the Irish Premier Division outfit.

Surprising links emerged last week in what was being described as the "most extraordinary" appointment in Irish football history.

That move has now been confirmed and the 54-year-old will take up a role in the dugout at The Oval.

Everyone associated with the Toffees will wish him well, but the link could extend further.

Ferguson has suggested that he wants to sign Everton youngsters on loan, but what's he said?

What Duncan Ferguson has asked David Moyes for

It is no secret about the relationship that the iconic Scotsman has with the Goodison faithful.

Whether it be as player, interim head coach or assistant manager, he has always been loved on the blue side of Merseyside.

He has maintained great relationships in L3, with that extending to David Moyes.

Now he has taken the plunge back into management, he has asked the Toffees boss for a favour.

Speaking via talkSPORT on Monday, Ferguson said: "I'm trying to butter him [Moyes] up here, because I'm looking for some players.

"I texted him last night asking if he has any players for me. He's one of the best managers I've ever worked with.

"We'll give the players a chance here, absolutely. If we can strengthen in January in one or two positions, we'll do that, like every manager does."

It seems clear that the Scot has an eye on some talent from Finch Farm, but who could he bring in?

Who Glentoran could sign from Everton

It seems as if up to two positions are in the back of the new Glens boss' mind.

He will take his time in the coming weeks and months to suggest whether he wants to cover more or less areas in January.

For now, there are calls that Glentoran need added depth in forward areas and in midfield.

Martin Sherif could be the man to come in and bolster the forward line as he remains in L3 after his return from a loan stint at Port Vale last season.

He has experience in the EFL and could see if a switch to Irish football could unlock his best at 20 years old.

Jack Patterson could prove to be the perfect midfield signing.

The 21-year-old is already a Northern Ireland Under-21 international and could look to prove himself just over 10 miles from where he was born.

That would make total sense and could be a perfect first loan move for the 21-year-old.

The defensive midfielder completed 26 passes, created one chance and even maintained 100 per cent cross completion race earlier in the season when the Toffees faced Reading U21 in PL2.

His performance was only made better by seven defensive actions and eight duel wins.

These two could be the go-to youngsters for Ferguson and could make a telling difference for Glentoran from January onwards.
