The trait Everton fans will love about Christian Kofane as transfer could be on
Everton are interested in a move for Bayer Leverkusen striker Christian Kofane, who would certainly bring some much-needed qualities to the Toffees.
The Cameroonian joined the 2024 German champions last year as they entered a new era following Xabi Alonso's departure.
It was not the easiest of years for Leverkusen, who finished outside the Champions League places in sixth.
But many of their young additions impressed, including Everton target Kofane, alongside Ernest Poku and Ibrahim Maza.
In his first full season as a professional, Kofane scored seven times and registered nine assists.
And based on comments from former boss Kasper Hjulmand, Toffees fans may be getting excited.
What did Kasper Hjulmand have to say on Christian Kofane?
Taking over from Erik ten Hag after just two Bundesliga matches, former Denmark boss Hjulmand was placed in charge of a young group at the BayArena.
Kofane would have to wait for his first start under the Dane, but when he did, he finally netted his first league goal for the club in October - the second in a 2-0 win against Union Berlin.
"For me, it's simply impressive that Kofi came to Europe at the end of 2024 and moved here in the summer of 2025," Hjulmand told Kicker in March.
"A few weeks ago, I criticised him a bit in training and then the next day he came to me and said: 'Please, keep it up, I want more criticism, I want to learn,'" he added, outlining a rather humble trait that Everton fans would love should they secure his signature.
Hjulmand would outline the importance of Kofane's personality.
"I always tell players: Stay true to yourself in this crazy world. Sometimes you might lose touch with reality. But if you stay true to yourself, everything will be alright.
"Kofane has a great future. I know Chris will stay on this path, with this personality, and then he will certainly develop further."
Turning 20 later this month, the forward is far from the finished article, but his personality and character are certainly aspects that Everton fans would love.
Is Kofane worth the pursuit for Everton?
As mentioned, he is far from the finished product given his age.
But this is something that has been backed up by his coaches, who remained impressed by his willingness to learn and gain experience.
This would most certainly earn him time with the Toffees fanbase, who would love a project to behind.
But they must add the guarantee of goals outside of this, with it potentially the case that David Moyes is unable to rely on Kofane as a perfect source of goals in the early stages.
The potential is there, though, and the Blues must finally start looking to the future. Kofane could be a part of that.
