Two reasons why Everton's slow transfer window should not cause panic yet

Everton supporters are growing frustrated with the lack of transfer business on show so far.

David Moyes has plenty of problems that need solving and with just a month until the season starts, it seems difficult that they'll all be fixed.

The manager will have wanted to have as many fresh faces available throughout pre-season, but for whatever reason that has not been the case.

The World Cup may have played a factor, with possible targets away with their country.

Goodison News has shared reports of Everton chasing World Cup star Ayase Ueda this summer.

And while patience may need to be required before the end of August, here are two reasons not to panic.

Everton have done more business-wise than you think

Technically, Everton have only brought one new name to L3 this summer with the arrival of Hayden Hackney.

But, they have signed three players permanently.

Merlin Rohl and Tyrique George who were on loan last season have joined officially on long-term deals.

Combined with Hackney, the cost of all three transfers actually places Everton among some of the highest net spenders in the Premier League.

According to Transfermarkt, the Blues are sixth for net spend, with a total of -£55.75million (€-65.3million).

The teams above them on the list so far are Ipswich Town, Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur.

So, while business may be slow, Everton are still putting money into the squad, even if it has not felt like it so far.

What we know about the Friedkin Group's process

Another reason to remain calm over Everton's business is that slow progress in the market appears to be the Friedkin Group's preferred style.

Looking at sister club AS Roma, they are also facing the same issues this summer window.

The Serie A club have yet to make any signings other than bringing two loan players from last season back on a permanent (Donyell Malen and Daniele Ghilardi).

Ultimately, the slow progress this window may be by design, with the American owners determined to take their time and get the right deals done.

It is a frustrating way to go about things as supporters are eager for exciting new names to pull on the Everton shirt.

But, now may not be the time to panic but instead return back to this point a month down the line.
