Everton remain hopeful that they can sign Jack Grealish from Manchester City permanently this summer.

The Toffees just brought in a new left-winger in the form of Tyrique George after haggling Chelsea down to a lower price than the clause that stood in his loan deal.

David Moyes and Co. will want to do the same for Grealish, whom Everton will not be triggering a £50m buy option for.

The winger's future still remains uncertain after Pep Guardiola's departure, as Enzo Maresca could give him another chance at the Etihad Stadium.

The 30-year-old is still recovering from the foot injury that abruptly ended his campaign with the Blues last season, and may not know his own future yet for another few weeks.

Everton are keen to negotiate a deal for Grealish again this summer, but they'll need to find a compromise with Man City first.

How Everton and Man City's 'financial compromise' could look for Jack Grealish

A report from the i Paper on 4 June claimed that Maresca is unlikely to stand in Grealish's way if he decides he wants to move back to Hill Dickinson.

However, the former England international's wages are an obvious hurdle that both parties need to overcome, never mind the transfer fee.

The Daily Mail previously reported that the Toffees valued their former loanee at £20m, amid news that they would not trigger the £50m buy option, which City themselves understand.

Now, the Daily Mail have reported that Everton could re-sign Grealish so long as a "financial compromise" is found with his parent club.

Given that the player is taking his time on his road to recovery, and that his deal with Man City soon expires, the Toffees could value him for even less than £20m.

However, it's hard to see Maresca's side parting ways with the forward for anything less than £15m, as it feels like £20m has always been the realistic compromise.

Everton's move for Tyrique George raises Grealish questions

Everton signed George on a permanent deal after he impressed Moyes during his short stay with the club on loan from Chelsea.

There was a reported £25m buy clause in his loan contract, but the Toffees have only had to pay an up-front fee of around £18m.

However, it's a lot of money to spend on someone who could be a back-up winger, especially after big cash was also chucked at Hayden Hackney, with another midfielder and right-back wanted.

That's not to say George's arrival rules out Grealish staying, because the former would most likely act as a backup to the latter.

But it more so puts stress on Everton's willingness to pay more money for Grealish.

The last that was reported about the Toffees' interest was that they will wait for Grealish to return from injury before making a decision.

It could be a while until the deal is resolved.
