What David Moyes said about Jack Grealish return as Enzo Maresca offers clarity on Manchester City future
Talk of Jack Grealish's future re-emerged in the news this week.
Since his loan stint at Everton expired at the end of last season without the Blues instantly signing him on a permanent basis, the 30-year-old's future at Manchester City is unknown.
The former Aston Villa star still has another year left on his contract at the Etihad, but after missing half a season while injured at Hill Dickinson Stadium, there's no guarantee that the England forward will be at the Etihad come the start of the 2026-27 Premier League season.
However, with Pep Guardiola no longer in charge at Man City, with Enzo Maresca now in the hotseat, there's a suggestion that Grealish could finally be set to get some clarity on his situation.
Grealish has been out of action since suffering a fractured foot in January, so he'll be desperate to know whether or not he'll be staying in Manchester or heading elsewhere.
David Moyes has already spoken about the chances of him making his way back to Hill Dickinson.
David Moyes never hid how highly he rated Grealish at Everton
Grealish played 22 times for Everton before that injury, scoring two goals and supplying six assists in the process.
With him in the side, the Blues had a Premier League win-rate of 45 per cent.
Without the Birmingham-born star, their win-rate dipped to 22 per cent.
Despite being so vital for the Toffees, Moyes has remained tight-lipped when talking about whether or not Grealish will be back on Merseyside next season.
"We wouldn't be making any decision and even if I was I wouldn't be saying anything at the moment because Jack has had quite a serious operation in his foot so we've got to give that time to heal," said Moyes in April, as quoted by the Independent.
"Jack is here and we love having him around. He's great company. If you look at the contribution in the 15-20 games he played, he was great and he gave the crowd a lift, and he certainly played a big part in where we're sitting right now."
The big thing right now is what Man City's new manager Maresca thinks, with recent news suggesting that he's already held talks over Grealish's future.
Enzo Maresca's made his mind up
According to a report by Flashscore on Monday, Maresca has indication that he's open to Grealish staying put at the Etihad.
It is understood that the former Everton winger, who the Blues could have signed for £50million due to an option-to-buy clause in his contract, could find himself in Maresca's plans for the 2026-27 campaign.
Flashscore adds that Grealish is aware of Maresca's stance and is now facing a decision on whether he wants to stay in Manchester or head elsewhere, with a return to Everton seemingly on the cards.
