Everton and Ethan Nwaneri is a story that repeatedly refuses to go away.
The Englishman was a target for David Moyes' side in the last January window, but he was instead sent to Marseille on loan.
But the chance to secure the signature of the 19-year-old could once again land on Everton's lap.
Everton have been fairly slow to react in the market so far, with the addition of midfielder Hayden Hackney, the sole new addition so far, though permanent deals for Merlin Rohl and Tyrique George have been ratified too.
The Blues are hoping to land a deal for a right-back but the attacking areas could also use with a refresh.

According to the print edition of Corriere Delllo Sport on 31 July, Arsenal have set at least a £30million (€35million) price tag on the 19-year-old.
It is a steep price for Nwaneri but it appears that has not put any potential suitors off either.
The information from the Italian outlet also shares that Everton are "preparing" to make an offer.
However, they are not alone in that race, with competition said to be fierce, as Fulham and RB Leipzig look to follow suit in getting a bid ready.
This update follows earlier reporting from Goodison News that Arsenal are open to a permanent exit for Nwaneri.
Despite being described as a "big talent" by Mikel Arteta back in 2024 after featuring against Preston North End in the EFL Cup, two years later, he has fallen out of the immediate plans in North London.
And Everton could now take advantage of that fact.
Is £30m a fair price for Nwaneri?
Everton will not want to get stung in the market, especially after last season's deal to bring Tyler Dibling to L3.
That move did end up costing a total package of £40m, with few signs that investment will be rewarded.
There is still plenty of time left for Dibling, but those fears would be alleviated with Nwaneri.
Despite being younger than the former Southampton star, Nwaneri has plenty more experience under his belt.
He has been playing first-team football since he was 15 years old and also has featured in the Champions League for Arsenal.
Those experiences at such a young age should help him settle into life in Merseyside should a deal be made.
£30m is a high price, but for a 19-year-old talent with the world at his feet, it may be a deal the Blues do not want to miss out on.
