Where Everton stand in perennial right-back search as Kyle Walker transfer truth emerges
The Toffees have failed to recruit in that troublesome position over too many transfer windows now.
A new right-back was, not for the first time, considered a big priority for David Moyes heading into the summer.
Everton have been linked with their fair share of names in that position, without anything concrete materialising.
The search for a right-back took a strange twist on Wednesday as Walker was touted as a possible option for Moyes.
However, a new update has now been shared by respected reporter Giulia Bould on the subject.

Many fans would have baulked at suggestions that Walker is an option for Everton ahead of the window closing.
That is despite then-Burnley boss Scott Parker hailing Walker as "absolutely immense" last season, despite the fact he is now 36.
Well those who do not want an ageing Walker at Hill Dickinson Stadium appear to have got their wish.
As per Bould via the BBC's live blog on Wednesday afternoon, Walker is not on Everton's radar, contrary to those previous reports.
"After claims emerged about a move for Kyle Walker to Everton, it's my understanding this is a non starter," Bould said.
"Despite the Toffees being in the market for a right-back, the Burnley man isn't on their list of targets."
This comes amid a separate update that Crystal Palace right-back Daniel Munoz is there for Everton's taking.
The £20million fee will not be an issue, but it comes down to whether Moyes feels he can get the best out of him.

The list of right-backs Everton have been linked with since last buying one could easily reach into the hundreds.
This summer alone there have been a batch, with some mentioned more than others - Brooke Norton-Cuffy among them.
Walker has been ruled out as an option, but right now it seems Munoz is the next on the conveyor belt.
If Everton chiefs have any sense, they will just get the £20m deal concluded now and tell Moyes to find a way of using him to his strengths.
Everton fans can see where this is going otherwise.
The window will close in under three weeks' time with Jake O'Brien still Moyes' go-to right-back.
That is simply not acceptable for a club with ambitions of breaking into the European spots.
Other names will no doubt be linked again, but for now it seems Munoz could be the man.
