Why Everton are now on red alert for Liam Delap transfer from Chelsea
Liam Delap is just the one name that refuses to go away at Everton.
It has been like that for years now, with David Moyes not hiding the fact that he's a massive fan of the striker.
The Toffees wanted Delap after Ipswich were relegated two seasons ago, and that interest remains to this date.
Now at Chelsea, Xabi Alonso could be about to open the exit door again.
Everton will once again head into the Premier League season with Thierno Barry and Beto as their main strikers.
While there were some green shoots at times, both failed to deliver consistently when needed the most.
Liam Delap set for late exit
Everywhere you look, it's feels like Delap will be packing his bags one way or another.
The Chronicle has now reported in its print edition that Como's interest isn't set to go further, as the striker wants to stay in the Premier League.
The newspaper states on Tuesday that has put Everton on red alert for a possible transfer before the deadline.
Now, a hefty profit is still wanted at Stamford Bridge, meaning that any deal could cost up to £40million.
How Liam Delap transfer could change
It feels highly unlikely that Everton, or even Newcastle, would pay that fee to sign a striker who hardly
With only one Premier League goal to his name, that simply isn't value for money in this current market.
But, as the deadline on September 1 edges ever closer, other opportunities could start to arise.
It's said that Everton could possibly seal a loan move for Delap, with an option or obligation to buy, if Chelsea want him out.
That would be very ideal for the Toffees, with Barry and Beto looking more than likely to be sticking around for now.
Now interest has grown, but they haven't exactly been put on the market either, so adding depth could be great.
The only problem with having all three is their similarities, with all three more powerful than they are fast to make runs behind the defence.
This is certainly one to watch as the Premier League seasons gets underway in only three days.
