Why Everton are overlooking Alexander Sorloth's Crystal Palace nightmare as transfer chance emerges
Alexander Sorloth has been consistently linked with Everton - and a deal could make sense.
David Moyes is looking to add another striker to his ranks this summer, and Sorloth is an experienced option for the forward department.
Sorloth's first spell in England did not go well. The Norwegian was ultimately a flop for Crystal Palace, scoring just once in 20 games.
But his form since then has drastically been on the up, with a return to the English top flight mooted.
With the 30-year-old on the radar, there are several reasons why he is an attractive prospect.
And while Everton looked down and out in the race, new reports have shared another chance could be on the horizon.
How a new Alexander Sorloth transfer chance could emerge for Everton
The race for Sorloth looked to have been won by Juventus after contract terms were agreed.
But, since then, no agreement has been reached with Atletico Madrid over the sale of the striker.
Now, Everton could have a chance to re-emerge in the race should they wish.
The Toffees have been name-dropped again alongside Sortloth's name in the print edition of AS in Spain on 10 July.
After Sorloth's previous spell in England for Crystal Palace, many may be put off by the striker.
But for Everton, that is not the case.
They state that Sorloth still has a "high reputation" in English football, and that Norway's upcoming quarter-final clash against England in the World Cup could have quite the impact.
The match-up is described as a "good opportunity to see how his relationship with English football stands".
Other such as Newcastle and Fulham are also said to have interest.
So, perhaps if the Norwegian forward puts on a good display against current Toffees star Jordan Pickford, it could change the landscape once more.
Why Sorloth could be perfect for Thierno Barry development
In many ways, Sorloth and Thierno Barry are alike in their striker profile.
Although both are physically tall strikers - standing at 6'5" each - they are not your typical target man.
Sorloth has often been utilised as a winger for Norway, adopting a wide target man role rather than using his qualities down the middle.
An unusual position in the modern game. While Barry is much more known for his unique mobility for a player of his stature.
But Sorloth's experience in the footballing world could be an excellent teacher for Barry.
The Norwegian has 477 appearances through his career, scoring 175 goals. Most of those games have come in one of Europe's top five leagues.
Barry, at 23 years old, does not exactly have a mentor type in L3 as things stand, and while Beto is also experienced, he only has over half (248) of Sorloth's appearances.
