How Adam Aznou could force Everton into Melvin Bard swoop

If Aznou departs then the Blues need another left-back, either to start or to provide back-up to Vitalii Mykolenko.

A report from the Daily Mail on Saturday evening claims that they have checked on Bard and others, without naming any alternatives.

It states that talks with Malaga over a loan for Aznou are progressing, which would open the door for a new man to come in.

Bard is an exciting target, as he has plenty of experience in top divisions, with 161 appearances in Ligue 1.

What do the stats say about Everton target Bard?

Bard has played one match in the league this season, so it is better to look at his stats for the 2025-26 campaign.

In France's top division in that campaign, he notched two goals and one assist

Bard averaged 0.56 shots and created 0.56 chances per 90 minutes, according to data from FotMob.

His crossing may be a concern, as he completed just 19 per cent of his attempts last season.

Defensively, he averaged 6.84 contributions, with 1.95 tackles, five recoveries and 2.85 clearances.

In terms of duels, he won 54.3 per cent on the ground and 50.8 per cent in the air.

The numbers are solid, and may well improve once he gets to grip with life at Finch Farm, if he ends up making the move.
