Idrissa Gana Gueye's future is still unresolved at Everton as Le Havre circle around the midfielder.

The veteran Senegalese star's contract officially expired at the end of June, but the Toffees have remained in talks to keep him in L3.

David Moyes' side have been slow to react in the market, and the same could be said about these contract talks.

And they may be looking to speed up those discussions amid the latest emerging out of France.

Gueye will want his future to be resolved as soon as possible and the longer the stalling goes on, the higher chance he plays his football elsewhere.

Le Havre's latest moves is a reminder of that possibility as their sporting director Demba Ba speaks out.

As relayed by L'Equipe, Le Havre sporting director Ba has namechecked Gueye as a possible signing.

He stated: "Trying another Eden Hazard-style signing? Why not. I have one in mind, but it’s not feasible. It’s Idrissa Gueye.”

A possible transfer for Gueye has also been described as a "dream" for Le Havre by outlet Le Petit Lillois.

Of course, in this case, the Toffees may be lucky that Le Havre are seemingly unable to afford a deal to bring the 36-year-old to France.

But it is a reminder that other clubs could swoop in and hijack Gueye away from Everton amid those contract talks.

Why Everton should move on from Gueye now

Gueye has experience that can be invaluable for Moyes' side but with talks taking nearly a month to bring him back, it may be time to put an end to them.

As stated before, the Blues have been slow to make moves in the market, and with a final resolution on Gueye's future, it could allow them to begin a search for an added midfielder.

European qualification is the goal for next season, and right now Everton are seemingly standing still.
