Why Everton have just been backed to make deadline-busting Jack Grealish signing

Everton are not giving up hope that Jack Grealish could return before the end of the summer transfer window.

Grealish joined on loan from Manchester City last summer and was a popular figure with the Toffees' fanbase.

The 30-year-old winger scored twice and provided six assists in the Premier League for Everton before injury cruelly curtailed his season in February.

Everton did have a £50million purchase option on the England international, but opted not to exercise that clause.

However, Everton continue to be linked with a move for Grealish's return, despite Enzo Maresca hinting he could be part of City's squad this season.

There are still a couple of weeks left in the window, and Everton have been backed to play the waiting game with Grealish.

When could Everton seal Jack Grealish return?

Everton have added to their attacking ranks this summer, with Brennan Johnson arriving in a swap deal for Dwight McNeil from Crystal Palace.

Tyrique George has also moved to Everton full time from Chelsea after a loan spell in the second half of last season.

But there is no doub that supporters would absolutely love Grealish to come back if a deal made financial sense for the club.

Gabby Agbonlahor, a friend of Grealish's, was speaking about the situation on talkSPORT on Wednesday.

And he thinks that Everton might get a deal over the line in the closing stages of the transfer window.

Speaking live on air with Alan Brazil, Agbonlahor said: "I think Everton will take him. I think David Moyes loved him.

"With David Moyes, Jack loves Everton, he loved his time there, the fans loved him, he knows all his team-mates.

"He only went back to Manchester City because he was injured. These sort of negotiations as well Al, in terms of what wages you pay and that sort of stuff they can take a while can't they?

"There's just over a couple of weeks left in the window, so maybe it happens later in the window."

Should Everton press for Jack Grealish return?

There is no doubt that Grealish provides that 'X-factor' in the final third, and his return would be fantastic for Everton.

It does, though, have to make sense from a financial standpoint given Grealish turns 31 in September.

He still has plenty of years in him, but you can understand why Everton were reluctant to pay £50million to sign him permanently.

But Grealish is an absolute difference maker, and if the opportunity arises late in the window to strike a deal, then it is one Everton should take.
