Why Everton will be encouraged by Watford's latest Nestory Irankunda transfer move

Everton have been named as an interested party in the signing of winger Nestory Irankunda.

The Watford star could be on the move this summer and with Everton needing attackers it makes plenty of sense to move for him.

Irankunda recently starred at the 2026 World Cup for Australia, where he netted one goal throughout the tournament.

But, amid Everton's interest, the latest move from Watford when it comes to the 20-year-old has seemingly dropped quite the hint over his future.

The Hornets stance on Irankunda could be shifting.

As it suggests they may be preparing for a possible sale in the near future.

Watford talks with Bayern Munich signal Nestory Irankunda intentions

Irankunda has long been regarded a top talent in football. Otherwise a European club like Bayern Munich would never have signed him.

But things did not quite work out for the Aussie in Germany, and he was later sold to Watford.

Now, it seems the Championship club are hinting towards a sale for the winger arriving soon amid their latest talks with Bayern Munich.

According to Sky Sports, Watford have "bought back" 10 per cent of the sell-on clause the German champions had in the deal.

If Watford are not looking to part ways with Irankunda, why would they look to try get a bigger slice of the pie should a sale come their way this summer?

It certainly seems like they are anticipating a transfer.

Previously, the Bavarian-based side had a 50 per cent sell-on clause, but after discussions with Watford owner Gino Pozzo, it now stands at 40 per cent.

Bayern Munich have also run out of time to bring Irankunda back to the Allianz Arena, should they have wished. Their buy-back clause has expired.

Why Everton may have straight race for Irankunda

Watford's star winger is a player in high demand, with Goodison News sharing details of Everton's interest in Irankunda, as well as the competition over a deal.

Hull City, Sporting CP and Celta Vigo have all been knocked back in their attempts to seal a transfer.

According to Sky Sports, all three outfits had £10million bids rejected by Watford.

Additionally, two of those sides have not come back in for Irankunda ever since that rejection.

If they feel that Irankunda is too high a price for their budget, it may allow Everton a much easier pathway to a transfer.

And with Watford now set to get a bigger chunk of the transfer fee, they may be willing to negotiate a reasonable fee with the Toffees.
