Why Everton will now get a move on for first-choice Guela Doue transfer
Everton could end their search for a new right-back by signing Guela Doue from Strasbourg.
The Cote d'Ivoire international has been heavily linked with a move to the Toffees as they assess their options for defensive reinforcements.
It has been clear for some time that the Blues must prioritise adding a new right-back this transfer window.
The Hill Dickinson Stadium side are eyeing an arguably ambitious move for Doue to give David Moyes what he wants.
With the Scottish manager having to rely on Jake O'Brien at right-back since returning to the Merseyside outfit, he will surely be desperate for someone like the Strasbourg ace.
The 23-year-old defender has made a name for himself in Ligue 1 over the last few seasons and certainly won't come cheap.
How some at Everton feel about Guela Doue deal
Strasbourg want £40million for Doue and Moyes prefers his signature over other options.
Arsenal's Ben White and Crystal Palace defender Daniel Munoz are also on the Toffees' radar, but it looks like the Ivorian ace tops their shortlist.
According to Liverpool Echo journalist Joe Thomas on 20 August, Doue is likely to be the most expensive right-back option the Blues have their eyes on.
However, for most fans, and some within the Merseyside outfit, the Strasbourg defender would be the first choice.
With not much time left before deadline day, the Toffees will have to get a move on if they want to sign the promising right-back.
What transfers David Moyes still needs at Hill Dickinson Stadium
A right-back should undoubtedly be a priority for Everton, but they can't forget about strengthening other areas of the pitch before deadline day.
The Toffees have made four signings so far this summer in Hayden Hackney, Tyrique George, Christian Norgaard and Brennan Johnson.
For now, the Blues seem to have enough options between the sticks unless one of the backup options to Jordan Pickford leaves.
In midfield, Moyes should have enough options to cope with the demands of the 2026-27 campaign.
The Toffees need to get going on bringing Jack Grealish back to Hill Dickinson Stadium before another team swoops in for him.
Moyes should also be looking for a much more established Premier League number nine if he wants to make progress in L3 next season.
