Why Jamie Leweling's undecided future keeps Everton firmly in transfer race

Jamie Leweling is on Everton's radar as they look for last-minute forward signings.

Iliman Ndiaye looks increasingly likely to join Tottenham as the Toffees and Lilywhites continue to hash out a deal.

David Moyes' side are also in talks to sign Folarin Balogun as a new striker signing.

And that is amid Beto being on his way out with him set to join Fiorentina this window.

However, Stuttgart's Leweling could yet be a forward signing for the Merseyside outfit, despite a strong push from sister club AS Roma.

How high have Roma bid for Everton target Jamie Leweling?

Everton and Roma have seen a lot of the same targets been linked to them this summer, and Leweling is just the latest.

According to Sky Sports Germany reporter Dennis Bayer, Roma are currently offering £25.6million plus a further £4.28m in bonuses.

However, while the Serie A side are looking to press ahead with that move, the journalist shares that Leweling has not yet decided on his future.

While he also mentions that Everton and their Merseyside rivals Liverpool are also "in the mix" for the German international.

So, there is still every chance the Blues could emerge in the race, and potentially get one over Roma and Liverpool in the process.

Could Everton afford Leweling?

It remains to be seen what financial muscle Everton could potentially put forward for the Stuttgart winger.

A move for Balogun is reported to potentially exceed £34.2m meanwhile a return for Richarlison is not cheap either.

Richarlison is mooted to cost Everton a total package of £35m in what could end up being an expensive end to the window.

So, at the price currently being floated for Leweling, that would see Everton splash another sizable fee down if they do move for the German.

And that offer from Roma has not even been accepted yet either.
