Why Man United have not progressed transfer despite liking Everton's Iliman Ndiaye
Manchester United have been heavily linked with a move for Everton's Iliman Ndiaye.
The winger has been one of the Blues' standout players in recent years since he was signed in a £15million deal from Marseille.
He has refused several offers from David Moyes' side of an improved contract, which has only led to more speculation.
Goodison News has previously covered Ndiaye's refusal to sign a new deal at Everton.
The Red Devils have yet to make their approach for the Hill Dickinson Stadium star, though.
Now, the reasoning has been revealed, and it is down to an England star.
Why Man United have not made Iliman Ndiaye approach yet
The Old Trafford side still hold interest in Ndiaye, but they have not made a bid for his services.
That is down to Three Lions ace Marcus Rashford, according to respected transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Speaking on his YouTube channel on Monday evening, the Italian said: “Iliman Ndiaye at Everton is another player they like, but Manchester United are not progressing due to the Rashford situation.
“Many clubs have been calling, United, clubs from abroad, a few weeks ago Aston Villa had conversations.
“It is important to say he is very expensive, for Everton, he is a very important player.”
That suggests that the Toffees' chances of keeping the 26-year-old are decent, unless Rashford's future changes.
However, things can change in football quickly, so nothing is guaranteed on Ndiaye.
Everton should show ambition if any club tries to sign Ndiaye
The Friedkin Group must show their ambition this summer, they can't afford to lose the Senegal star.
It would be exactly the opposite of what they should do, if they want to qualify for European football.
Perhaps, a solid transfer window and qualifying for Europe next season could convince Ndiaye that his future remains on Merseyside in the long-run.
The L3 outfit hold all the cards as his deal runs until 2029, so they will not be forced into letting him depart.
The ball is in their court if an offer does eventually come in, but they should show strength and push back against any interest in their star man.
If they want to push up to the upper echelons on English football and make an impression on the continent, then keeping their best players and adding more top quality stars is the way.
The player is understood to be ambitious and the Blues need to match that, if they are to keep him around, and telling him that he is going nowhere would be a sign of that.
