Everton lost Iliman Ndiaye for only £60million to Man City, while Monaco's Folarin Balogun walked away from Everton despite a deal sheet being submitted.

With Beto also leaving, it leaves Thierno Barry as the only senior striker, which is where Icardi comes into things.

How Richarlison could help seal Everton transfer

It was no secret that the Brazilian could have returned to Merseyside in the latest transfer window.

With Ndiaye supposedly going to Spurs at the time, Richarlison was lining up a £35m move back to the Blues.

In the end, he decided against it.

Now, Richarlison could be key to help Everton sign Icardi when he is needed the most for Moyes.

TyC Sports has reported that Atletico Mineiro have joined the race for the Argentine, but he isn't their top priority.

Instead, that's Richarlison.

With Brazilian clubs having until 11 September to conclude their business, all eyes are on the Spurs striker.

If not successful, it's said that attention could switch to Icardi, who has been formally offered to Everton now.

How much could Mauro Icardi cost?

With free agents the only avenue that can be explored now, there will be no transfer fee attached to any deal.

Galatasaray were said to have offered Icardi a new deal to continue this season, but with a 50 per cent wage slash.

The striker did earn £7.3m-a-year in Turkiye, which was around £140,000-a-week.

It's highly unlikely that Everton will offer those sorts of wages, especially with what the likes of Grealish are paid.

But, Icardi has never played in the Premier League, and surely he will have that ambition before his career ends.

Moyes isn't known for liking flashy players like Icardi, but given what his squad looks like, it may be something that is too good to turn down.
