Why Tyler Dibling's pre-season proves another Everton transfer twist is on the way

Tyler Dibling had a strong performance for Everton against VfB Stuttgart on Saturday.

Not many times can people say the winger has played a good game for the Toffees after his £40million move from Southampton last summer.

But there is a reason why the Friedkin Group decided to shell out so much money on the 20-year-old, who has perhaps the most potential at Hill Dickinson.

David Moyes has been handing chances to Dibling throughout pre-season, with Evertonians noticing a gradual improvement game on game.

There was always an expectation that a loan move away from Merseyside could have been on the cards for the England U21s star this summer, but no strong interest has been reported.

Now, Dibling could prove the biggest transfer twist of all Everton's dealings this summer, especially after his display against Stuttgart.

Everton were beaten 3-1 by Stuttgart in Germany in what was another good run-out for Moyes' men.

Dibling featured for 63 minutes, and looks to only be growing in confidence in performances this pre-season.

He also played 20 minutes against Hamburg, 61 minutes against Stoke and over an hour in the win over Dundee FC.

Everton's official account have even shared a video of several moments from the game where he dribbled past Stuttgart players for fun, showcasing what was promised when he first signed.

The Toffees' X account also hinted that he will be staying, by claiming they are excited to see more of him this season, in what could be a big twist at Hill Dickinso after all that has been said.

What did Dibling say about his performance vs Stuttgart?

There have been suggestions that Dibling should re-join Southampton on loan, but that looks to be off the table for now.

He will, of course, face challenges to break into Moyes' side once more this campaign, which makes the idea of loaning him out seem fair, given his poor form last term.

However, the youngster is clearly in the flow of things and returning to his old self on the pitch.

Speaking about his performance after the Stuttgart game, Dibling said, as picked up by The Toffees Blues on X: "I think that was definitely my best game since joining the club.

"I haven't shown my best in an Everton shirt yet, but I'm working hard to get there. I'm pushing to show everyone what I can do. I've got the support here to do that."
