Fabrizio Romano shares what’s next for Everton ‘as Carlos Alcaraz deal done’
Fabrizio Romano expects Everton to be busy in the final 24 hours or so of the winter transfer window after Carlos Alcaraz’s impending arrival.
The 22-year-old is expected to be unveiled as David Moyes’ first signing in the next 24 hours after a loan deal with Flamengo was agreed [Daily Mail].
However, the Blues are eager to add “one or two” players before the 3 February deadline [Alan Myers], and Romano revealed to GiveMeSport (2 February) his transfer expectations at Goodison Park.
He said: “I think it’s a possibility for Everton to do something else. Yes, Alcaraz is done, and they are looking also more options.
“So I think Everton will be busy. I don’t want to mention names too early, but they are working on options. They are working on things. And so I think Everton will be busy ahead of the deadline.”
Everton will work on strengthening the squad up until the deadline
Everton fans, buckle in – it’s about to be a hectic final day of the winter transfer window.
Moyes is enjoying a remarkable start to life in his second stint on Merseyside – the 4-0 win against Leicester City on Saturday (1 February) sent a statement to the Blues’ relegation rivals that they have no intention of being involved in a relegation scrap.
While Alcaraz will fill the void left by Orel Mangala after the Belgian was confirmed to miss the remainder of the campaign through injury, there are glaring holes in the side which must be addressed in the market.
Liverpool Echo journalist Joe Thomas poured cold water on the links to Rennes full-back Adrien Truffert, but he did confirm the Blues will look to strengthen the frontline following Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s injury.

Despite his brace against Leicester, Beto is not certain to remain on Merseyside beyond the deadline and could still aim to return to Serie A [Tuttosport].
Nevertheless, new names will undoubtedly appear left, right, and centre before the window slams shut at 11 pm on Monday (3 February).
But considering Alcaraz appeared out of nowhere, there is hope that a blockbuster centre-forward signing could sport the Everton shirt before all is said and done.
