Jamie Carragher sends message to Elon Musk over 'blatant Everton lies'
Chelsea's 1-0 victory at Hill Dickinson Stadium was marred by several controversial incidents and a serious injury to goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez.
The 34-year-old Argentina international was rushed to hospital after a sickening clash of heads with Everton's Jarrad Branthwaite.
Xabi Alonso confirmed that Martinez suffered concussion and was undergoing "precautionary tests" after being stretchered off the pitch at Hill Dickinson Stadium.
During the game, the behaviour of supporters inside the stadium was also a talking point, with Everton fans accused of booing Martinez off the pitch.
However, it's since emerged that Evertonians were booing poverty chants from the away supporters after a verbal exchange between Pedro Neto and Blues fans.
And how did Jamie Carragher get wrapped into all this?
According to an X account called FullTime Report, Carragher hit out at Everton fans for allegations they booed Martinez off the pitch.
However, Carragher has hit back, saying that the quotes from the X account - which has over 91,000 followers - were fabricated.
As a result, Carragher called out the richest man in the world and X owner Musk to put a stop to accounts spreading disinformation.
The ex-Liverpool defender wrote: "Accounts like this that tell blatant lies should have their account blocked, Elon Musk."
A look through the offending X account's posts show a series of fabricated quotes related to football pundits, including ex-Everton star Wayne Rooney.
What happened between Everton and Chelsea fans?
It's unclear what started the tensions being raised, but Neto was spotted interacting with Everton fans behind the goal while Martinez was being treated.
That led to Chelsea fans singing, "we pay your benefits", something they'd been chanting at other points in the game.
Everton fans, who clearly had enough of the poverty chanting, booed their rival supporters, which happened to be at the same time as Martinez was being taken off the pitch.
The majority of Evertonians clapped the ex-Aston Villa goalkeeper, showing a lot more grace than the visitors on Merseyside did on Saturday lunchtime.
