John Parrott names Everton 'baller' David Moyes is not making full use of

Snooker great and Everton fan John Parrott believes Hayden Hackney could have a far bigger role to play under David Moyes.

Hackney arrived at Hill Dickinson Stadium from Middlesbrough in the summer for an initial £15.5million.

That fee was considered a steal for a player named the best in the Championship last season, though it could rise to £24m over time.

However, Moyes has so far handed Hackney just one Premier League start, with that coming in the opening-day win over Crystal Palace.

The 24-year-old has otherwise made do with cameo appearances from the substitutes' bench.

But Parrott believes Moyes is possibly underutilising Hackney on the basis of what he has seen so far.

"[James Garner's] a great player, as is Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall," he said live on talkSPORT on Wednesday morning.

"The other one is Hayden Hackney, who in two little cameo roles has showed me he can be a baller.

"He's come on a couple of times, changing the game against Manchester United, and in the Tottenham game he showed he can be direct and positive.

"I love the way he passes the ball as well - it's crisp. I think he should get a run-out tonight."

Parrott would like to see Hackney get a run-out against Wolves in the Carabao Cup third round, but will he get his wish?

Moyes has to take this cup tie at Hill Dickinson Stadium seriously.

Everton were eliminated by the same opposition at the same stage last season, albeit that was at Molineux and Wolves were a Premier League side.

There is little need for Moyes to rest players given there is a three-week international break after this weekend.

Everton fans are desperate for any sort of cup run, and this fixture is as good as they get for a place in round four.

There is no reason why Hackney cannot be part of that strong XI, with the likes of Jack Grealish, Tyler Dibling and Thierno Barry around him.

Hackney was superb in the second tier last season and is good enough to be a regular for Everton right now.
