Steve McManaman scolds Everton player who could've made life different vs Chelsea - 'Terrible'
Steve McManaman blasted Everton striker Thierno Barry over a "terrible" moment in the loss to Chelsea.
Barry again played the full 90 minutes for Everton in Saturday's 2-0 defeat at Hill Dickinson Stadium.
The Guinea-Bissau striker has come in for intense criticism again this campaign, despite scoring six times in all competitions.
Barry was arguably Everton's worst performer against Chelsea, although there were a few contenders for that 'award'.
David Moyes continues to rely on the 23-year-old up top due to quite simply having nobody else to lead the line.
But Barry's shortcomings were again in the spotlight in the first half of Everton's loss to Chelsea.
Thierno Barry does Thierno Barry things vs Chelsea
Barry's strong point is he seems to regularly get himself into very good positions.
The bad news is that he very rarely finishes off the chances that fall his way.
An example of that arrived against Chelsea when he somehow headed a glorious opportunity wide.
That came with the scoreline at 0-0. Had he converted, it may well have been an entirely different game on Merseyside.
As it is, Pedro Neto netted early in the second half and then again late on in the contest
Reacting to Barry's headed miss via Premier League Productions, former Liverpool midfielder McManaman said: "It as a really big miss; a terrible miss.
"He doesn't head it at all. It's seven yards out, centre of goal, lots of pace on the ball - that should be in the net and Everton should be 1-0 up."
The Premier League list Thierno Barry continues to lead
Barry has now missed 11 big chances in the Premier League this season.
If he had taken a handful of those, he would be level with Manchester City's Erling Haaland as the division's leading scorer.
Incredibly, the next player on the list of most missed big chances is Fulham's Gonzalo Garcia on just six.
Four players have missed five big chances: Haaland, Bryan Mbuemo, Dan Ndoye and Igor Thiago.
The fact Haaland is on that list shows that missing chances does not matter so much when you can also convert most of them.
Unfortunately for Everton, it does not look as though Barry will ever become a prolific player.
