'Stupid' James Tarkowski blasted for repeat Everton antics - he does it every season
James Tarkowski can be frustrating at times at Everton.
There's no doubt the 33-year-old has been a key player for the Toffees over the years, but he has his lapses in judgement.
David Moyes' team have been defensively solid for the most part this season, but their unbeaten run has ended.
Chelsea got the three points at Hill Dickinson Stadium in a 2-0 victory as Tarkowski partnered Jarrad Branthwaite at centre-back.
The two defenders have been impressive in the current campaign, but were unable to keep the London club's attack at bay.
However, in one moment, the Merseyside outfit's captain showed why he needs to be more composed on the pitch.
What James Tarkowski must do better at Everton
Thierno Barry was once again the villain against Chelsea, missing some big chances to score.
It was a cagey first half, with the score 0-0 going into the break.
One of the main talking points of the opening 45 minutes came when Tarkowski barged into Moises Caicedo off the ball outside the Chelsea box.
It sparked a confrontation, and the Toffees' defender was eventually shown a yellow card, along with Morgan Rogers.
Writing in the Liverpool Echo on 19 October, Michael Ball said, "You've got your captain Tarkowski, who I thought played well, and he had a half decent game.
"But the stupid, daft bookings that he keeps on getting season after season when he knows the referee is whistle happy.
"We were in control of the ball. We were in the second phase of getting the ball into the box and he does a daft shoulder barge right in front of the referee."
Why David Moyes must change mentality at Hill Dickinson Stadium
Moyes arguably needs to utilise his squad better, with plenty of quality left on the bench against Chelsea.
Instead of playing Tyler Dibling or Tyrique George at right-wing, the Scottish manager opted for the more defensive Merlin Rohl.
Hayden Hackney and Charly Alcaraz also stayed on the bench when the Toffees needed a goal, with Christian Norgaard coming on in the 85th minute.
Moyes' lack of faith in his bench is concerning for supporters in L3 and many believe he isn't using his squad's potential.
A trip to the Emirates Stadium is up next for the Merseyside outfit and it will be interesting to see whether the Scottish manager takes any lessons from the loss against Chelsea.
