Thomas Tuchel’s Everton disrespect can’t be forgotten after James Garner latest
Everton star James Garner has been handed an England lifeline by Thomas Tuchel.
The Blues ace was not originally selected in the Three Lions squad for their upcoming UEFA Nations League matches.
Tuchel's side will face Spain, Czech Republic twice and Croatia, and Garner looked set to miss out.
Withdrawals from the original squad mean that the door has opened up again for the 25-year-old.
The Hill Dickinson Stadium club revealed the update on Monday afternoon and wished him luck.
However, neither Garner nor the Toffees should forget how disrespectful Tuchel has been amid the latest reprieve.
How has Thomas Tuchel disrespected James Garner?
Tuchel has constantly shown Garner a lack of respect in the past few months.
He labelled him as England's "mini Valverde" after his debut against Uruguay in March.
Garner was then left out of the squad for the World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada, despite that praise.
The national team manager clearly does not rate him that highly, as he was not supposed to be in this squad either.
It is not the first time that he has shown the Merseyside club disrespect in his selections, though, and it simply can't be forgotten.
Who else can feel disrespected at Everton?
While Jordan Pickford and Jarrad Branthwaite made the squad, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Jack Grealish are still out in the cold.
Dewsbury-Hall has never earned a senior cap for England, and that does not look like changing anytime soon.
The former Chelsea man notched eight goals and six assists in 31 Premier League matches last season, but was not even named in the 55-man preliminary squad for the World Cup.
Meanwhile, Grealish was earning calls for a sensational recall to the national team after not featuring since 2024 due to his form with the Blues.
However, Tuchel resisted the urge to give in to those demands, even though the Manchester City loanee had two goals and six assists by January, when his season was ended by a foot injury.
Hopefully, the 31-year-old can return to those form levels this time around, and show Tuchel that he deserves to be in the squad, but his hopes are surely fading.
The former Bayern Munich boss seems to prefer younger options, even if they have shown less form than the Toffees loan star.
