Everton could solve a big issue for David Moyes should they bring in Djed Spence from Tottenham.

After ascending into the European spots before the final international break, Toffees fans were beginning to believe in the prospects of a continental return last season.

Instead, this would go up in flames across the final months of the term.

Failing to win any of their final seven, Everton would limp home in 13th, naturally leaving pressure on the shoulders of David Moyes.

Hayden Hackney is the only man to have came through the door thus far, but there is a big summer ahead.

With this in mind, the Blues could be set to solve one key issue based on their links with Tottenham defender Spence.

Clear problem continued to cost Everton during late slip

Everton's problems at full-back have been present for multiple years.

This could be addressed by Spence, who has been mentioned as an Everton target this summer.

Nothing has progressed as of yet, but the England defender would be a more than solid option for the Toffees.

Last term, Moyes continued to persist with Jake O'Brien at right-back, and while he did put in multiple strong performances, he is simply not a natural full-back.

Spence would match the defensive ability of the Irishman, but also add the much needed pace to add balance to the side - something the Blues were severely lacking last season.

Moving forward, O'Brien simply has to be utilised at centre-back, and a signing of Spence's ilk would finally allow that.

For too long, Everton have looked imbalanced, with the lack of directness and energy down the right further nullifying what is a rather conservative approach from Moyes in the first place.

Spence would not add buckets of goals and assists, but he would balance the side.

Is Djed Spence a realistic target for Everton?

Fully breaking into the Tottenham side across the two most recent seasons, Spence has impressed in North London.

As a result, he earned himself a spot in the England squad this summer - where Gary Neville tipped him to take on Vinicius Junior.

But his future at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is far from certain, with Pedro Porro being undroppable at right-back, while Roberto De Zerbi will likely prefer the left-footed Destiny Udogie out on the other side.

Spence has no guaranteed spot in the Spurs lineup, meaning that a deal could well be a possibility.

Everton have ambitions of getting back among the European spots, and they would have to back this up to convince the full-back.

But the Toffees could be attractive to Spence if these ambitions are combined with a guaranteed starting spot.
