Everton fans have already been told what they can expect from Alieu Njie
Everton are understood to be eyeing a move for Torino star Alieu Njie.
David Moyes is looking for attacking reinforcements to bolster his side this summer, and the Sweden Under-21 star fits the bill.
The Bull reportedly want £13million to sell the winger, who has notched two senior career goals to date.
That return may not be too impressive, but there are aspects to Njie's game which clearly appeal to the Toffees.
The recruitment team may have noticed something in the numbers that suggest he could thrive at a bigger level.
Comments from his former manager in Italy give an insight into why the Blues want to add him to their squad, even if his goal returns do not make particularly encouraging reading.
What was said about Everton target Alieu Njie?
Former Torino manager Paolo Vanoli has already told Everton supporters about the 21-year-old's ability.
After he scored against Como in October 2024, the now unemployed boss was glowing in his praise.
He said: “He has fantastic technical and physical qualities, something he showed with the goal.
“I believe in young players, but they always have to be ready. I am happy for him, but now he has to keep his feet on the ground.”
Why Everton may need to look elsewhere
Everton can't afford to take gambles in the transfer window, as they need players that are ready to contribute now.
The evidence suggests that Njie would be another Tyler Dibling, struggling to get into Moyes' plans.
He has bagged just two strikes and one assist in 35 senior games since being promoted from the Serie A side's academy.
His numbers at youth level also do not jump off the page, as he notched just seven goals and 10 assists in 71 Under-20 matches.
He managed four goals and three assists in 26 games in the lower age group teams, which is nothing special.
Signing the Swedish ace would not satisfy the supporters demands for players that will help the L3 outfit qualify for Europe, even if Vanoli's comments are encouraging.
He clearly has attributes which are appealing, but he would not be guaranteed to succeed in English football, and it would be a big risk to spend the reported £13m fee that it would take to sign him.
The Friedkin Group would be better off spending their money on the likes of Jack Grealish and Tyrique George, who are more developed and know the English game already.
