Everton are looking to battle Hull City for the signing of Watford's Nestory Irankunda.

The Australian winger has emerged on the Toffees' radar as David Moyes looks to add to his attacking ranks this summer.

Business has been slow, but the Scotsman will want to get his moves right, rather than panic in the market.

Irankunda has been impressive for the Hornets and provides pace that Everton desperately lack.

But, as stated, the Blues are not the only ones in the hunt.

Hull City are prime candidates in the race and their owner Acun Ilicali has shared quite a bizarre social media post that could involve Everton.

Where do Everton stand in Nestory Irankunda race?

Goodison News have been keeping up with Irankunda's future including Hull City's failed bids amid Everton interest.

The Tigers have so far been unable to match the valuation that Watford are seeking for the 20-year-old.

Reports out of Portugal then suggested Everton could swoop for Irankunda instead amid Sporting failing to agree a deal as well.

But, according to Hull City's owner, the Tigers are seemingly quite far advanced in their pursuit of the forward.

In what is quite a strange tweet, Ilicali has hinted towards all of the newly-promoted sides current deals that are being worked on.

While not providing any names, Ilicali instead dropped the flag of the nationality of each target and how close they are to completing a move.

One of which was an Australian flag with an 80 per cent completion.

Reading through the lines, it seems clear that Irankunda is the player in question, as he is the only Australian who has had concrete links to MKM Stadium.

So, if Everton are serious about Irankunda, they may have to start playing catch-up before Hull City can complete that deal.

But, that fresh clue could end up helping the Blues.

What Everton’s recruitment team can take from the latest twist

Everton's recruitment team will already know the football world can move fast, and they can also do the same.

So far, things have been way too slow for the Toffees. Just one fully-new name has come through the door with the season starting in a month.

If Everton are serious about pushing for Europe, they must use this latest hint from the Hull City owner to act decisively.

They know exactly where the Tigers are at in their chase for the winger, and now could be the time to leapfrog them before it becomes too late.
