Assane Diao could be signed for much cheaper than Everton were originally quoted.

David Moyes' have been credited with interest in the Senegalese winger as they assess their forward options.

Diao has had a tough year, with his campaign stalling through various injuries.

However, he since overcame those worries and was able to make one appearance for his nation at the 2026 World Cup.

While the Blues' interest in Diao is not new, Everton's revived enquiry with Como has kept the door more ajar in recent days.

And after an original approach during the early parts of the window, the valuation of the 20-year-old has since changed.

How much has Assane Diao's price dropped by?

At the start of June and before the World Cup, Everton reportedly bid £38.8million for Diao.

That offer was rejected with Como issuing a response with a price tag of £64.7m set for the forward at the time.

However, now, according to Informa Betis, Como are seeking to earn £51.3m for the Senegal international.

A £13.4m (or around 21 per cent) discount in price now, with just a couple of weeks until the window ends.

For Real Betis, they do have a piqued interest in the saga surrounding Diao this summer, hence the reports from the outlet.

The La Liga side still hold 20 per cent of Diao's rights, with it being said they would earn around £5.9m from a transfer at the price listed before.

An important sum for the Spanish side, with that becoming "crucial" to their own business.

Would Diao become Everton's record signing?

It remains to be seen if Everton have the money to conduct a deal for Diao at the valuation set by Como.

£51.3m is a steep price, especially with signings in other areas of the pitch still needed.

Perhaps, the interest in Diao is linked with Everton making contigency plans should an attractive offer for Iliman Ndiaye arrive.

The Senegal winger has rejected advances from Al-Hilal, but a move elsewhere in the Premier League could tempt him.

Either way, a deal at £51.3m would make Diao the all-time record signing for the Blues.

He would surpass the signing of Richarlison, who joined in 2018 in a deal worth up to £50m.

Everton have also been linked with a reunion with Richarlison, although they would have to cough up significant money to bring him back too.
