Everton told £42.8m Jonathan Rowe bid would ‘change everything’ in new transfer update

Everton may still be able to sign Bologna winger Jonathan Rowe.

The Blues seemed set to miss out on the 23-year-old after their £30million bid was rejected.

The England Under-21 ace had reportedly decided to stay in Italy rather than join the Hill Dickinson Stadium side.

Their pursuit of the former Marseille man may not be as dead in the water as it seemed, though.

There may still be a way for the Merseysiders to convince Rowe, but they would have to have a bid accepted by the Italian side first.

They have now been told what it would take to change the Emilia-Romagna side's minds.

How can Everton convince Bologna to sell Jonathan Rowe?

Everton would have to increase their offer by a decent amount to have it accepted by the Red and Blues, according to Italian football expert Luca Bortolotti.

The Bologna-based journalist was speaking exclusively to Goodison News, he said: “A bid should be on the way, but after sellling Santiago Castro, Bologna has no intention to let Rowe go.

“Still, with a bid of around £42.8million, everything could change.

“His wage here is £1.2m-per-year, I think he would be more likely to push for a big team, such as Aston Villa or Chelsea.”

The latter suggests that they may still have issues with the personal terms, but they can clearly change his club's stance on an exit.

Why Rowe signing makes sense alongside Jack Grealish

The L3 outfit want Rowe as he would be the perfect complement to a player like Jack Grealish.

They are also trying to bring the Manchester City winger, who spent last season on loan with them, to sign for at least another campaign.

While the 30-year-old is a chance creating machine, Rowe is more of a direct goal threat.

The latter averaged 2.68 shots per 90, with Grealish having 1.43, per Fotmob data.

The veteran created 2.10 chances per 90, with the ex-Norwich City man recording 1.17.

Therefore, David Moyes could alternate between them depending on the game state that his side find themselves in, and how the opposition that they are facing are set up.

They have different strengths, but it makes sense to bring both players in the Finch Farm doors, if it is possible financially, which remains to be seen.
