Everton transfer priority clear as new players at Finch Farm today
Everton's players are set to return for pre-season training on Friday, but David Moyes will not be done yet in terms on incoming business.
Merlin Rohl and Tyrique George have been signed permanently this week after spells on loan at Hill Dickinson Stadium last season.
Hayden Hackney is the only addition to Moyes' squad who did not end last season on Merseyside.
The central midfielder was voted the Championship Player of the Season last time out with Middlesbrough.
While Hackney will undoubtedly enhance Everton's squad, other positions still need strengthening.
As the majority of Everton's players start returning to Finch Farm, there is one position in particular that needs looking at.
What is latest with Everton's right-back search?
It was clear even before last season ended that the right side of defence needed addressing this summer.
So far, Everton have been linked with multiple players in that position but nothing has yet moved over the line.
If reports are to be believed, that is not through a lack of trying on the Toffees' behalf.
Everton reportedly bid for Atalanta's Raoul Bellanova, though it has gone worryingly quiet on that front of late.
Arsenal's Ben White, West Ham's Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Brooke Norton-Cuffy of Genoa are three others to have been linked.
As of now, that remains the priority for Moyes as Seamus Coleman is no more and Nathan Patterson is clearly not trusted.
What's the pre-season plan for Everton?
Moyes will likely put his players through their paces on Friday, but there is still over a month to go until the Premier League season begins.
Everton have had nearly seven weeks off, so players will need to be brought back up to speed.
Moyes will be without those who competed at the World Cup, with Jordan Pickford still three weeks and counting away from linking up with the squad.
Things will slowly ramp up from 18 July when Everton take on Dundee in a friendly, with that the first of seven fixtures locked in.
It is all with the visit of Crystal Palace on 22 August in mind, with that very much when the serious business begins.
