Hayden Hackney's Everton contract examined: Wages, duration and amortisation

Everton have seen some positive signs from Hayden Hackney already this season.

His signing represented a positive start to the summer window, let's not mention how it finished.

Bringing in the Championship Player of the Year was a wise move for just £16million.

The 24-year-old has come in and been bedded in slowly by David Moyes.

He has made just one Premier League start, but has shown his quality when given the chance.

Hackney looks set to become a key player for Everton as we assess his contract situation on Merseyside.

What is Hayden Hackney's Everton wage?

The Englishman had a season loan spell at Scunthorpe four years ago, but has only featured for Middlesbrough permanently.

He was a regular at the Riverside ever since that spell in League Two and certainly impressed.

After scoring six and assisting seven last time around, it is no wonder he was on the move this summer.

Everton landed his signature as he penned a deal to keep him at Hill Dickinson Stadium until 2031.

That five-year deal features a £50,000-a-week wage, as per Valuball, equating to a yearly salary of £2.6m.

Hackney is roughly paid around 10th most in the entire Toffees' squad, despite having the potential to become a star player on Merseyside.

That will only make it all the more easy to pay off his fee and contract at a bargain price.

How much are Everton paying for Hackney per year?

With a five-year deal, it allows the L3 outfit to pay off his deal over the course of that contract.

His fee combined with his yearly salary allows Everton to pay just £4m-per-year for his services in amortisation.

That will last until 2031, only if he doesn't put pen to paper on new terms before then.

It is unlikely that he will go that long without a fresh contract if he hits the heights expected of him.

To only be paying £4m-a-year for his services shows that the Blues are capable of doing smart business.

That is then offset by the crazy £10.5m amortisation fee they are paying for Tyler Dibling.

Hackney is an example of a positive signing and there will be hope that he can prove just how good he is as time goes on.
