Jack Grealish reacts to Christian Norgaard's arrival at Everton

Christian Norgaard has signed for Everton as supporters still await news on Jack Grealish's possible return.

Last season's loanee emerged quickly as a fan favourite, and it had looked like his career was being put back on track.

Grealish had struggled to get game time at Manchester City in the season prior, and taking the step to secure a loan in Merseyside was deemed the right step.

Unfortunately, injury had put an early end to his Everton spell, with him missing the rest of the season from January onwards.

Nonetheless, he had done enough to warrant supporters and Everton wanting him back.

And it appears he is still keeping close tabs on all things Everton following the arrival of Norgaard.

Everton's confirmation that Norgaard has joined makes him their fourth overall signing this summer, but only the second new incoming.

Tyrique George and Merlin Rohl are technically 2026 summer arrivals, with their loans from last season being made permanent, with Hayden Hackney the first new addition.

After Idrissa Gueye and Everton failed to agree terms on a new contract, an experienced centre-midfielder was certainly needed next, and the Toffees have got it over the line.

As the Blues announced that Norgaard had joined from Arsenal for an undisclosed fee - although media reports suggested Everton would pay £7million - Grealish has reacted.

On the Toffees' Instagram, the former loanee can be found among those who have liked the post.

Over the last week, it has been reported that Grealish is set to return to Everton later in the summer transfer window.

So, he will be looking to link up with his future teammate Norgaard this coming season.

However, that deal will have to wait until the end of August as the Englishman continues to rehab from the foot injury that ended his loan spell early.

What is Everton's best midfield combination now?

David Moyes will have a headache in midfield this season.

After signing Hackney and Norgaard, his options are beginning to beef up with Tim Iroegbunam and James Garner also still in the pecking order.

Last season's performances make it hard to see the Scotsman dropping Garner, so he will likely be partnered by one of those three in a midfield two.

Due to his Premier League experience, Norgaard could be utilised early on, as Hackney settles into life in the top flight, with the former Middlesbrough man ultimately taking over.

Meanwhile, Iroegbunam will make sporadic starts and cameos off the bench throughout the campaign.

Although Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is also an option, he will likely be used in a more advanced role.
