Jack Grealish continues to be linked with an Everton return this summer.

The attacking midfielder started on the bench for Manchester City in the Community Shield on Sunday.

Enzo Maresca did give him a chance as the 30-year-old was brought on at half time against Arsenal.

Having lost his number 10 shirt with the Citizens, the Englishman never quite hit the ground running in a 3-0 defeat.

It wasn't quite the dream return to City for Grealish as his future remains unclear at the Etihad.

He has ironically since been seen in Wales again and has answered a question about a potential transfer.

What was Jack Grealish asked? How did he reply?

The former Aston Villa star may have featured for 10-time Premier League winners, but a move still seems likely.

There has been plenty of links away from City this summer after his loan spell on Merseyside last summer.

David Moyes would seemingly like the attacker back for the new season having described him as "brilliant" in March, despite his injury woes.

A return to Villa Park has also been mooted this summer as the Toffees look set to face competition for his signature.

A deal is yet to be struck by anyone, but that hasn't stopped questions from being asked.

Grealish was spotted at the Cardiff City Stadium on Monday to watch the Bluebirds play out a 1-1 draw with Wrexham.

It is assumed he was there to watch close friend and ex-teammate Callum Robinson.

A Cardiff fan spotted him in the stands and asked him, "Jack, is this a permanent deal or just a loan move?"

The tongue-in-cheek question was matched in energy by Grealish as he smiled, laughed and replied: "Don't know yet."

It's safe to say that this was all a funny exchange, but will have got Everton fans' ears burning nonetheless.

Why Everton are waiting to sign Grealish

The longer the summer window goes on, the greatest the fears are that the 1995-born star won't return to L3.

That is a reasonable feeling for fans to have, but they may soon get their questions answered.

There has long been a suggestion that Everton will wait as long as they possibly can before signing the Englishman.

Moyes and Co. have been waiting on his recovery from a stress fracture, while also knowing that the longer they wait, the better deal they'll get.

With the window not closing until Tuesday 1 September, there is still plenty of time to get a deal done.

It doesn't look likely that Cardiff City are going to push for the transfer or loan deal that their fans are asking about...
