Seamus Coleman cuts off Gary Neville to reveal Iliman Ndiaye gripe at Everton

Seamus Coleman couldn't stop himself when discussing Iliman Ndiaye and his Everton exit.

The Senegal had arguably been the Toffees' best players for well over a year.

His ability on the ball made him exciting to watch and gave David Moyes' side some much-needed x factor.

That had already seen him register an assist for the Toffees to begin the new campaign.

Before he could add to that tally, the 26-year-old was given the green light to depart Merseyside.

Ndiaye joined Manchester City on deadline day in a deal that certainly hasn't gone down well with Coleman.

The 2000-born attacker has now gone in at the Etihad and has already made two appearances.

Having been given the number seven shirt, it is clear that he is going to be a key player for Enzo Maresca's side.

That doesn't take away from the blow of losing him at Hill Dickinson Stadium.

It was just part of a bizarre deadline day for Everton that certainly didn't go down well with fans.

That is exactly why Gary Neville wanted to ask Coleman about it with the ex-Toffees star appearing on Stick to Football.

The former Manchester United man asked: "Neville: "I just want to talk about a couple of players who got involved in transfer deadline day, so Ndiaye..."

The Irishman cut him off quickly with a moan that summed up his exact feelings on the sale.

Coleman came in to say, "[Shakes his head] Ugh, oh my. Time will tell, Jack [Grealish] did really well when he came in last year. The reason I did that [shook his head], because even watching him against Bournemouth, he just gets you up the pitch.

"He had a spell in the lower leagues and you can tell. He's hungry and he just keeps going."

It's safe to say that the former captain is annoyed by the sale, but it is the fee that has also gotten under his skin.

Why Everton got everything about Ndiaye deal wrong

Clubs a similar size to the Blues have made big name sales in recent years.

Jack Grealish departed Aston Villa for £100million in 2021, while Elliot Anderson has moved to Man City this summer for £116m.

That gives an idea of what sort of fee Everton could have expected for their star man.

Instead, they brought in just £65m, which Coleman believes isn't enough compared to the current market rates.

He said: "I'm just surprised for someone so good for him to go, I would have liked it to be for a bit more money. I think for nowadays it might be [cheap]."

To leave the former Republic of Ireland man shocked sums up just how bad this business really is.

It makes less sense as time goes on, especially considering he wasn't truly replaced before the transfer deadline.
