Everton now know that Jonathan Rowe is open to leaving Bologna.
The Blues have been tracking the left-winger all summer, with uncertainty clouding Jack Grealish's potential return,
Though the Toffees have signed Tyrique George on a permanent deal, it's not know whether David Moyes trusts him to be a first-team starter week in, week out.
That said, Evertonians have remained hopeful that Grealish comes back to Hill Dickinson, but Enzo Maresca's Manchester City arrival has shaken things up.
Now, Moyes and Co. may be serious about other targets, with no guarantee of the former England international returning to the club.
Everton have already tested the waters for Rowe, with the Toffees now needing to decide on an ultimatum for the left-sided forward.
Jonathan Rowe's stance change amid Everton interest
There has been strong signals that Rowe has no interest in leaving Bologna, despite links to Everton.
The English attacker admitted in August that he is focused on staying with the Italian club, while responding to questions about his future.
He said, as quoted by La Gazzetta dello Sport: "I'm a Bologna player now; this is a great club with clear ideas and a new project that I'm 100% focused on.
"I feel part of this world; I'm not thinking about anything else, and nothing else interests me."
However, in an update from Foot Mercato journalist Santi Auona on X, Rowe is now open to joining Atalanta.
In Foot Mercato's report on the update, it's said that Atalanta are "seriously accelerating" a move for the left-winger.
Everton now know what they need to do financially after the latest update regarding Rowe's U-turn stance on a departure.
How Everton can swoop to sign Rowe after latest update
Atalanta had an initial offer for Rowe rejected by Bologna, like Everton, and have now made a second proposal.
Everton's offer of £30million for Rowe was rejected by the Serie A side, but Atalanta are looking to increase the figures.
They are said to have offered a second proposal of £34m plus a potential £3.4m in add-ons.
All the Toffees need to do is up their offer by a few million for the former Norwich City forward, who is now open to leaving after all, and he could be theirs.
