Everton are busy in their preparations for the 2026/27 Premier League season.

David Moyes steered the Toffees to a 13th-place finish in the top flight last term, having briefly flirted with European qualification.

There will be a big expectation from Moyes, the TFG group, and supporters for improvement next season.

To do that, there will hopefully be even more arrivals in the coming weeks as we gear up to the season opener against Crystal Palace on 22 August.

Merlin Rohl has made his move permanent, and Hayden Hackney has arrived, but more deals are expected.

Here's what we know and what we don't know about Everton's transfer window thus far.

What we know: David Moyes has one big Everton problem to solve

There will be several positions that Moyes still wants to improve before that fixture against Palace next month.

But one area in particular is looking a little troublesome, and that is at right-back.

Long-serving club captain Seamus Coleman has now departed, while Nathan Patterson is a player who Everton might look to move on.

Jake O'Brien has often been utilised at right-back, but is much more comortable in the centre of defence.

Atalanta's Raoul Bellanova is a player reportedly interesting Everton, while West Ham United full-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka is also said to be on their radar.

Strasbourg right-back Guela Doue has also been mentioned, though a deal may prove too expensive for Everton.

What we know: Everton may not be done at Hayden Hackney

Hackney's arrival from Middlesbrough represents a bit of a coup for a much sought-after midfielder, who has impressed in the Championship.

But he may not be the only arrival in central midfield this summer, especially as there is uncertainty over the future of Idrissa Gana Gueye and Tim Iroegbunam.

Villarreal's defensive midfielder Pape Gueye and Neil El Aynaoui of Roma are two names that have emerged as potential targets.

What is for certain, Moyes appears to be keen on another midfielder, to add to options such as James Garner, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, and Hackney.

What we don't know: Will Idrissa Gana Gueye return?

With Moyes and Everton being linked to many midfielders it does ask big questions over Gueye's future.

The veteran Senegal international is now out of contract at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, though talks may now resume after the Teranga Lions were eliminated from the World Cup.

Gueye did not make enough appearances for Everton to trigger a one-year contract option, so fresh talks are needed if he is to stay.

Whether they manage to reach an agreement or not, Everton certainly need to start thinking about a longer-term solution at defensive midfield.

What we don't know: Will Jack Grealish return?

Jack Grealish proved an extremely addition when he arrived on a season-long loan from Manchester City.

But the England international's spell at the Hill Dickinson was cut short by a cruel injury sustained in February.

Any return to the blue half of Merseyside this season is likely to depend how he recovers from that setback.

However, more recently there have been suggestions that new Manchester City boss Enzo Maresca wants Grealish to be part of his squad.

Everton are closing in on the permanent signing of Tyrique George from Chelsea, after his loan spell in the second half of last season.

With Jarrod Bowen and Abdul Fatawu also being linked to Everton, there are clearly contingency plans being made in case Grealish does not come back.
