Why David Moyes could hold the key to Thierno Barry conundrum at Everton

Thierno Barry has been left with a monumental task at Everton.

An embarrassing end to the transfer window has left Toffees supporters understandably living with the hierarcy at Everton.

The will he, won't he debacle involving Folarin Balogun was a complete mess, and the United States international staying at Monaco left David Moyes an almighty problem.

Everton's decision to sanction Beto's sale to Fiorentina before the Balogun deal was signed, or a different replacement found, looks remarkable short-sighted now.

Barry, 23, is consequently the only senior striker on the books until at least the January transfer window now.

But former Everton goalkeeper Asmir Begovic shared why he thinks Moyes will be to solving this particular conundrum.

How can David Moyes solve Everton issue?

Barry, scored only eight goals in 38 Premier League appearances during his debut campaign last term.

The 23-year-old has already got the mark this campaign, netting in opening day win over Crystal Palace and following up with a hat-trick in the Carabao Cup victory over Preston.

But there is a major problem if Barry gets injured or struggles to contend with being the only striker option.

Begovic, in quotes reported by the Liverpool Echo, says that Moyes' experience will be what helps Everton through their Barry conundrum.

He said: "It’s a big blow that the move for Folarin Balogun didn’t go through and there is now massive pressure on Thierno Barry.

"It would have been a great signing for Everton, and without him, the attacking options look a bit stretched.

“Tyrique George looks a good addition especially because he is versatile, but the overall transfer window has felt a bit underwhelming when you consider the club's ambitions and the expectations of the fanbase.

“That said, David Moyes has been around the game for a long time, he’ll figure out how to make the team competitive, balanced, and as successful as possible this season.”

Everton attackers must share the burden

There is, obviously, a worry about where the goals are going to come from for Everton this season.

But it cannot be on Barry to shoulder this responsibility alone, there is going to needs to be a real collective effort in the next few months.

There are some good players in the squad, but not many with proven goalscoring records

However, with the likes of Jack Grealish, Tyrique George, Brennan Johnson, and Tyler Dibling there is enough creativity.

That quartet needs to shoulder their own individual responsibility to help with the "for" column, though.
