David Moyes has already shared what he loves about Tyrique George as Everton progress transfer
Everton are close to completing a deal to sign Tyrique George on a full transfer.
The 20-year-old winger initially joined the Toffees on loan from Chelsea in January, and he made 11 Premier League appearances.
Everton are progressing in talks to sign George, despite initially opting not to pay a purchase option they had agreed with Chelsea.
It has been reported that Everton will pay a lower up-front fee, but add-ons could see the final fee approach the initially agreed fee.
With Hayden Hackney also close to joining Everton from Middlebrough, business is starting to pick up in this window.
And David Moyes may have previously already given a hint about the traits he likes about George.
What has Everton manager David Moyes previously said about Tyrique George?
There is clearly a need for Moyes to reinforce his attacking options in the summer transfer window.
Jack Grealish's return is not clear cut, and could largely depend on how he recovers from the injury that curtailed his loan spell from Manchester City last season.
Iliman Ndiaye is also facing an uncertain future, while Tyler Dibling has struggled to perform since joining from Southampton.
George did not score or assist in his 11 Premier League appearances, but Moyes spoke about the strengths he admires in the youngster when speaking after Everton's 2-2 draw with Brentford in April.
In quotes reported by the Liverpool Echo at the time, Moyes said: "He's got good control, he wants to score, I like that, and you saw that today.
“He wants to try and score and that was important for me because I think wide players nowadays, we're asking [a lot of] them.
“I think being a wide player now you've got to have a contribution with goals and assists. He's a young boy who will obviously continue to develop, I've got no doubt about that.”
How will Everton utilise Tyrique George next season?
George did not always get regular game time during his temporary stint at Hill Dickinson Stadium last season.
But, he is still only 20 and there is a lot of potential to be harnessed there and, if done right, he could become a really important player for Everton.
As things stand, there is a real opportunity on both flanks, especially with a return for Grealish not clear cut and Ndiaye's future not particularly clear.
George possesses good speed, which could be important on the counter-attack, while he is also effective when pressing opposing defenders.
It may represent somewhat of a risk, but it does feel a risk worth taking for Everton, Moyes, and George himself.
