Everton are progressing in talks to sign Chelsea winger Tyrique George on a full transfer.

The 20-year-old spent the second of last season at Hill Dickinson Stadium, after joining on loan in January.

George failed to score or assist in 11 Premier League appearances for the Toffees, who finished 13th last term.

However, he showed enough raw promise to suggest he could be an asset for Everton next season.

With doubts over a return for Jack Grealish, and concerns over the long-term future of Iliman Ndiaye, Moyes could end up being light in wide areas.

But it looks as though a move for George could be imminent, with an announcement perhaps not too far away.

How much will Everton pay for Tyrique George?

Everton are finally cranking up their summer transfer recruitment after a slow start to the window.

Middlesbrough midfielder Hayden Hackney is set to join Everton, in a deal that will start at around £16.5million, with more due in add-ons.

The Toffees are set to get their chequebooks out once again for George, with the Athletic providing details on how much Everton may pay.

The news outlet reports that Everton did not take up the £25million purchase option included in George's contract.

However, they say that talks are progressing with Chelsea to complete a full transfer, and the fee could end up reaching the £25m the Blues originally wanted with add-ons, but the up-front payment will be less.

Moreover, talks between Everton and Chelsea could conclude before the end of the week.

Where will Tyrique George fit into Everton rebuild?

David Moyes is looking to reshape his Everton squad in the close season after a drab end to the campaign.

Where exactly George will fit into the rebuild kind of depends on whether Grealish will return to the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Grealish's loan spell from Manchester City was cruelly cut short by injury, and any potential return is likely to depend on his recovery.

At just 20, though, George provides a long-term option on that left flank, and represents good long-term planning over shorter-term solutions, which Everton have been guilty of in the past.

George also possesses electric pace, which will be important for games when Everton want to play on the counter-attack, but also for leading the press.

With an ability to play on both flanks, George's versatility will also be important to give Moyes more attacking options.
