Where Everton now stand in desperate right-back search after Angus Kinnear admission
Angus Kinnear has done little to ease concerns of Everton fans with his comments on the search for a new right-back.
Everton's need for a new player in that position has been known for months now - if not years.
Long-serving Seamus Coleman's exit at the end of last season only heightened the need to recruit there.
A number of right-backs have been linked since the transfer window officially opened.
But with a fortnight to go before it closes for another four months, nobody has yet been brought in.
Kinnear has now been asked specifically about any developments regarding that rather desperate search.
What has Angus Kinnear said about Everton's right-back search?
Kinnear has been doing the rounds this week speaking to various media outlets.
David Moyes has suggested he's not happy with Everton's business, which is obviously not ideal.
Dwight McNeil has literally been swapped out with Brennan Johnson, while Tyrique George and Merlin Rohl have joined permanently.
Hayden Hackney and Christian Norgaard are therefore the only two new faces from last season to have cost a fee.
A right-back is what Everton fans remain desperate for right now, but it has now been confirmed that will not be happening before the season starts.
"We won’t have a right-back for Crystal Palace, but it’s important we have the number one right-back we wanted when the window closes," Kinnear told BBC Radio Merseyside.
This will not go down well with Everton fans, but could it be that a deal won't be done in time for Palace due to it involving Daniel Munoz?
Why Daniel Munoz remains best of the lot for Everton
Of the numerous names to have been linked, Munoz looks the best option for Everton.
Munoz has Premier League experience with Palace and has been very consistent at right-back.
The fact he is attack-minded may put off Moyes, but he is surely the option most Everton fans would go for.
If not Munoz, it may well be a choice between a few more candidates.
Barcelona's Hector Fort remains a target for Everton, while Alistair Johnston, Brooke Norton-Cuffy and even Kyle Walker have been linked among others.
Even Aston Villa's Matty Cash has now been mentioned as an option.
For all those names, though, it may well be that Jake O'Brien is again given the nod by Moyes against Palace this coming weekend.
