Neal Maupay exit latest at Everton as three teams eye late transfer
Marseille are one of three clubs pursuing a move for Everton striker Neal Maupay ahead of the 30 August deadline, according to Sky Sports.
Lyall Thomas reported on the Sky Sports live transfer blog [20 August] that Marseille are not the only side interested in a loan move for the Frenchman this summer.
The Ligue 1 side want the 28-year-old, who has entered the final year of his contract at Goodison Park, to replace Faris Mumbanya after he picked up an injury that will rule him out for most of the season.
Everton can benefit from interest in Neal Maupay
Sean Dyche is eager to sell Maupay this summer. The Blues had stood to gain nothing, bar moving his wages on with a loan move to Marseille, but the increased interest could lead to a permanent sale.
Given the dire financial situation at Goodison Park [Stefan Borson], losing a player that they paid £15million to sign from Brentford [BBC Sport] for nothing would be another in a long list of errors made by Farhad Moshiri.
The Frenchman, while underwhelming during his spell at the Blues and on loan to Brentford last term, still has a wealth of Premier League experience to offer and could be a capable squad option or a main striker for a club outside of England.
There is no way back for him in this Everton side. Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Beto are ahead of him in the pecking order and the Blues are targeting a new striker this summer, with a potential move for Barcelona forward Vitor Roque [Bruno Andrade, 16 August].

A permanent move is beneficial for all parties. The Toffees can recoup a nominal fee for the forward and Maupay can settle for a new side and avoid finding a club as a free agent next summer, where he could struggle should he underperform again this season.
