Everton player flies to Italy to finalise Goodison Park exit, announcement imminent

Everton midfielder Halid Djankpata has arrived in Italy ahead of a move to Serie B side Spezia, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

The Italian journalist reported on his website [29 August], that the 19-year-old is set to finalise his exit from Goodison Park on Thursday (29 August).

Djankpata has been a regular feature of the Everton youth setup but has been unable to force his way into Sean Dyche’s first-team plans.

Everton to sell Halid Djankpata to Spezia

Dyche is eager to find the final piece of the puzzle for his Everton side but must rely on player sales to make further signings before the 30 August deadline.

The Italian U19 international will hardly provide a significant top-up to the transfer kitty, but the Blues need funds by any means necessary and the interest from Spezia provided the perfect opportunity to move on the young midfielder.

Djankpata has been an academy product since the 2021/22 season. His career has stalled in the Premier League 2, and as he approaches his 20s with no senior appearance to his name, a move back to his native Italy is the most logical move for his development.
