Tim Sherwood fumes at what Ashley Young did in Everton v Tottenham
Ex Tottenham manager Tim Sherwood was unhappy with what Everton winger Ashley Young did at Goodison Park on Saturday, 3 February.
The Englishman was named on the right wing by Sean Dyche and Sherwood was impressed but also fumed as the side he wanted to win the game, were handed a few problems.
However, Sherwood did not get his wishes at the end with the game ending 2-2 as the hosts snatched a late draw.
Speaking in the half-time show on Premier League Productions, Sherwood said (03/02, 13:27): “He’s a nasty player. He gets under the skin of the opposition. Disrupted the Spurs player today.”
Had his moments
Young’s had his moments against Tottenham but his performance also highlighted his shortcomings and reinforced why he shouldn’t be a regular starter for Everton.
Despite being deployed on the right wing, the veteran failed to deliver quality crosses into the box, managing only two successful deliveries out of nine attempts in the first half.
This lack of effectiveness in providing service to the striker hindered Everton’s attacking threat.
Additionally, Young’s passing accuracy was decent from close range but faltered when it came to delivering crosses, indicating a specific weakness in his game.
Moreover, the 38-year-old’s struggles extend beyond this single match, as he has also faced difficulties throughout the season while playing at right-back.
His inability to consistently perform at a high level in both defensive and offensive aspects makes him a liability in the starting lineup.

With the Toffees needing to secure points to avoid relegation Dyche should consider alternatives as there surely are 14 or 15 outfielders at the club better than him.
In other Everton news, the Toffees’ transfer deal to sign an in-form player in January would have included a £7m option to buy.
