Nottingham Forest are stepping up their bid to sign Liam Delap ahead of Everton.

As they seek to sign a new striker before the 11pm transfer deadline next Tuesday, Everton have been pursuing a deal for Chelsea's Delap.

It's been reported that any deal for the former Ipswich striker would cost £50million, even though he only signed for Chelsea last year for £30m and has had a negligible impact at Stamford Bridge.

After their opening day defeat to Leeds on Saturday, Nottingham Forest are now picking up their efforts to sign 23-year-old Delap, with a potential loan deal on the cards.

Delap wasn't in Chelsea's squad on Monday night as they beat Fulham 3-2 at Craven Cottage.

And it looks as though he may have already made his final Premier League appearance for the Blues as Forest eye a late summer swoop.

According to The Telegraph, Oliver Glasner wants two more signings for Forest before the transfer window closes, and a new striker is a priority.

Forest are discussing a loan deal for the former Manchester City centre-forward after he wasn't included in the squad against Fulham.

Last Thursday, talkSPORT reported that Forest were ahead of Everton in the race to sign £50m-rated Delap.

But if Chelsea aren't open to a loan deal, that could open the door for Everton, who may have money to spend after what's been a rather quiet summer transfer window so far.

Despite Thierno Barry scoring against Crystal Palace on Saturday, the Toffees still need reinforcements up front.

Especially when Beto's future may lie elsewhere.

What's the latest on Beto's situation?

Despite spending three years at Everton, Beto has never really got going for the Merseyside club.

He's a very likeable player and has had good spells but, ultimately, the lack of firepower among David Moyes' striker options is one of the reasons the Blues failed to qualify for Europe last season.

Beto is now a target for Serie A club Fiorentina, who are also said to be keen on Delap as well.

They're looking to cash in on ex-Everton striker Moise Kean, hoping to raise £34m for his sale, which could then be spent on luring Beto away from Hill Dickinson Stadium.

If Beto goes for anywhere above £20m, then that will go a long way in helping Everton snatch Delap away from Nottingham Forest.
