'I coached Keito Nakamura and I have no doubt why Everton fans would love him'

Everton have been linked with several forwards this summer, including Keito Nakamura.

The Japan international looked to be heading out of Stade Reims, with interest emerging from the Premier League.

However, with just a few days left in the transfer window, that trail has gone cold.

The Toffees now look to be leading the charge to bring Jack Grealish back to Hill Dickinson this season.

And they have been boosted by Grealish's desire to return to Everton, but a deal still needs to be hashed out by the Blues with Manchester City.

But if that cannot be the case, then a return to try to sign Nakamura should be considered, especially after a glowing recommendation from a former coach of his.

What has been said about Keito Nakamura amid Everton interest?

Nakamura is eager to join the Premier League, and Everton could be his route to England's top division.

While Grealish's possible move to Hill Dickinson could negate the need for another winger, the future of Iliman Ndiaye also remains wildly unknown.

Manchester City have made contact for Ndiaye and while he insisted to stay following interest from Al Hilal, a move to one of the Premier League's top dogs would be hard to resist.

And that could lead Everton back to the winger market.

Speaking to Goodison News, Japanese football coach Kunio Otsuki, who worked with Nakamura at Mitsubishi Yowa, has shared why the winger would undoubtedly be endeared by Everton supporters.

He said: "Keito was always a great team-mate with an exceptional attitude toward the game.

"His main strengths as a player were his delicate touch on the ball and his powerful, pinpoint striking ability."

Otsuki would later go on to discuss the Everton links saying: "I firmly believe his style of play can succeed at the Premier League level.

"If he does complete a move to Everton, I have no doubt the Everton supporters will fall in love with him. He truly is that wonderful of a player and an even better person."

Now, it will simply be a wait and see for Everton fans to how they address their want for a new forward this summer, but Nakamura is on the shortlist according to reports.

What type of winger is Nakamura?

Nakamura is a goalscoring winger, highlighted by his 30 goals and seven assists in 97 games for Stade Reims.

Additionally, at international level, he is averaging a goal every 2.5 matches for Japan. That is 12 goals in 30 appearances.

Nakamura recently scored for Japan at the World Cup against the Netherlands as the Asian country fought from behind twice to draw 2-2.

Otsuki was not surprised by how Nakamura scored that goal, sharing that he regularly practiced from those sorts of angles.
