Vitalii Mykolenko spotted on crutches after Everton 2-0 win v Liverpool as fresh worry emerges
Everton defender Vitalii Mykolenko seemingly suffered an ankle injury during the club’s 2-0 win over Liverpool at Goodison Park.
The Toffees earned a huge win to all but secure safety in the Premier League thanks to goals from Jarrad Branthwaite and Dominic Calvert-Lewin either side of half-time, but the game had one negative as the left-back landed awkwardly on his ankle just before the break.
He was forced off at half-time despite initially continuing, but Sky Sports footage at full-time (24 April) showed the defender on crutches in the dugout while journalist Christopher Beesley shared an update from behind the scenes.
“One negative from an otherwise glorious night for Everton,” he wrote on his personal X account (24 April).
“I’ve just seen Vitalii Mykolenko go by with his foot in a protective boot.”
Daily Mail journalist Lewis Steele added that he was also on crutches after the game.
Huge blow for Everton
Sean Dyche has finally found a way to turn the corner with the team’s form, and they’ve now picked up three wins in the last four games to all but secure their safety in the top flight.
A win over Liverpool certainly wasn’t something that fans were expecting, but the players fought hard and showed real passion and quality to hold their own and prove that they deserve to be there.
Mykolenko is a player who has consistently performed well this season and hasn’t necessarily got the reward that he deserved, so to suffer this injury now is a major blow.

However with the club’s status now all but secure, it could have come at a worse time and with Ashley Young’s experience filling in for the final four games at least Dyche has an option.
It won’t be an easy last few games, but hopefully the club and player get some good news and the injury isn’t as bad as it initially seems.
